Director of Animal Care Services

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Deputy County Administrator, performs complex technical and administrative work for the operation of the County’s Animal Care and Control Department. Monitors and evaluates all operational areas of the Department, including shelter operations (adoption, rescue, foster, lost & found, and animal/kennel care), clinic medical services (spay/neuter and wellness), volunteer services, pet support services, administrative services, community outreach, and humane education. Manages the Department’s resources and oversees staff to carry out its goals, policies, and objectives. Seeks, maintains, and enhances relationships and partnership with other governmental and animal welfare organizations. Ensures the office operates in conformity with the South Carolina Code of Laws governing Animal Welfare. Performs related administrative and professional work as required.
